My journey in photography began as a hobby that I learned from my future husband in my twenties. I learned how to shoot with film and use the camera to capture the world as I saw it. At the time, my primary focus was photographing nature.
In 2012, after my husband’s unexpected death, I returned to photography, digital this time. The one place that I felt that I could breathe was in nature. I would often go to Desert Botanical Garden with my camera and be able to leave my grief for a while as I focused my sights through the viewfinder. Then, with time and healing, I expanded my photography to live music as I would watch my son perform. Before long, I learned how to take photos in low light and capture the spontaneity of bands performing in clubs. My next foray in photography was event photography, as I became the photographer for the Phoenix Film Festival. Not only did I get to be a part of this creative event, but I also improved my skills as a candid photographer.
As I continue my photography journey, I have become a storyteller of the world I see. My work reflects what speaks to me: quiet moments between people, the raw energy and silences at a live show, the vividness of the city and the serenity and beauty of nature,
